Give clients portal access
Client access lets your customers work with you inside the portal. They sign in to their own organization and see the time and invoices shared with that organization.
Access has several parts: organization membership, enabled client modules, supplier access settings, and reviewer or viewer assignments. Enabling a module does not replace the other permissions.
Create the client and invite its members
As a provider owner or administrator, open /clients. Create the client profile, complete its contact details, and enable the modules it needs.
Invite the people who should use the client portal. A billing contact's email address alone is not a portal login or an invoice-viewer assignment. The person needs an account and membership of the client organization. Configure email delivery before testing invitations.
The invited person follows the invitation flow. If they belong to multiple organizations, they select the client organization under My organizations before reviewing shared work.
Share time with a client
Enable the client's Timesheets module and configure its timesheet access mode on the client record:
| Mode | What the client can do |
|---|---|
| Disabled | No client access to supplier timesheets |
| View | Authorized members can inspect shared time and its billing state |
| Review | Assigned reviewers can approve or dispute the time submitted for client review |
Client owners and administrators assign reviewers per supplier workspace at /timesheets/approvals/reviewers. Reviewers use /timesheets/approvals; members with view access inspect time at /timesheets/suppliers.
A reviewer sees the relevant client portion of a submission. They do not receive access to every project or every client in your agency. See approve timesheets for internal review, client review, and disputes.
Share invoices with a client
Enable the client's Invoices module and invoice access for the supplier relationship. Client owners and administrators have viewer access for an enabled relationship; other members must be assigned as invoice viewers. Client administrators manage assignments at /invoices/viewers.
Authorized members use /invoices to view received, issued invoices, download PDFs and attachments, and inspect recorded payments and the outstanding balance. Provider drafts stay in the provider workflow.
Creating an invoice does not automatically enable the client's Invoices module. You can deliver an invoice by email without giving the recipient portal access. Likewise, being a timesheet reviewer does not automatically make a member an invoice viewer.
The portal records payments entered by the provider. Client invoice access does not imply an online checkout or automatic payment collection.
Check access before inviting a real client
Use a test account that belongs only to the client organization. Confirm that it can see the intended time and issued invoices, and that another client's records are inaccessible.
If something is missing, check the active organization, client module toggle, supplier access, and reviewer/viewer assignment. For invoice problems, also check that the invoice has been issued. See troubleshooting for authentication or delivery problems.
